Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To pair with its favorable overall grade, we gave this facility an A+ for inspections. Inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This nursing home received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies to create an immediate threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This nursing home was given impressive scores in the category of long-term care as well. Consequently, it received one of our most favorable grades in that category with a score of A. When nursing homes receive this kind of score in this category it is a good sign for resident care and indicates that the place is well-staffed with nurses and aids. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is very impressive. Pneumonia is often a dangerous condition for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a facility doesn't roll the dice on this issue. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home was given its next most favorable category score in the category of short-term care. We awarded this nursing home a grade of B- in this category, which is a respectable grade. Our short-term care scores are based in part on the nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a wide spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last statistic we considered in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that just 4.2 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

Turning to our final category, this facility was given a respectable nursing rating. While this wasn't quite as strong as a few of its other grades, this is still not a bad grade. When calculating our nursing grades, we weigh both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the levels of licensure of those nurses. This facility averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily, which is a very low figure. Finally, we also factored a few quality-based metrics into our nursing ratings. This nursing home was relatively weak in two of the major metrics we focus on, with below average scores for minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. These areas are generally decent indicators of the quality of nursing care provided.
