Facility Inspections
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of B- for our inspections rating. In fact, the facility received very impressive inspection report this year. We believe that one of the most important factors in assessing an inspection report is deficiencies. We especially look at the severity of those deficiencies. This nursing home was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered severe. This tells you that the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies to be an imminent risk to patient safety or health. Lastly, this facility was flagged by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We prefer to avoid facilities with this designation. Please do your best to find an alternative nursing home.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing score. In fact, nursing turned out to be its second best category grade. In that area, we gave this nursing home an B-. The nursing score weighs several subcategories, however, the primary one is the level of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics. While this facility got docked a bit for nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in a few of these quality-based metrics. With fewer than five percent of its patients experiencing pressure ulcers, it did well in this subcategory. This is generally an indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as having a system of moving a resident more frequently.

Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home also didn't fare poorly in the area of long-term care. Indeed, we gave it a C in that category, which happens to be another one of its more respectable grades. In the category of long-term care, we weigh the amount of care offered by a facility, rather than more sophisticated services. Once we finished looking at the amount of nursing care, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination statistics. We were pleased to learn that this nursing home vaccinates 99.518074 percent of its patients for pneumonia. This facility also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
Short-term Care Quality
The next area we graded is short-term care. We gave it an abysmal F in this area, which is a rock bottom grade. Short-term care scores are based in part on the nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a broad range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other variations of therapy. With a score of this caliber for this area, we weren't shocked to find that this facility was below average in many staffing metrics we assess. The nursing home provided far fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most nursing homes. Lastly, we considered the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that just 3.7 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
