Facility Inspections
Although we gave this place a weak overall grade, we awarded it a somewhat respectable score in the area of inspections, where it received a grade of B-. This was better than its other category grades. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing our inspection scores. One critical factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these can be quite minor. This place was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies to be an imminent risk to resident safety or health. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing score. Nursing proved to be its second best category grade. In that area, we gave this nursing home an B-. The nursing rating analyzes a handful of subcategories, however, the most important one is the level of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, although this nursing home got docked a bit for nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in some of our quality metrics. With fewer than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it fared remarkably well in this statistic.

Short-term Care Quality
We also awarded this nursing home a middle of the pack grade in the category of short-term care, where we gave it a C. Our short-term care grade is often employed to gauge a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation In order to provide high-end rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must offer higher levels of skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. In this nursing home's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than the typical facility. The last datapoint we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients who ultimately were able to return home from the facility. We found that just 4.4 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. Unfortunately, this was below average.
Long-term Care Quality
Switching gears to our fourth category, this nursing home was awarded a decent long-term care grade of C. In a long-term care setting, the nursing home's primary goal is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. After assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 98.416885 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is better than the majority of nursing homes. This place keeps its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
