Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a respectable nursing home overall, this place also excelled in the category of inspections, where it received an A+. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Our inspection ratings are tied to several pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that score well in this category have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. A few minor dings are not the end of the world.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Another one of this facility's higher category scores was in the category of short-term care. In that area, we gave this facility a B. It actually outpaced most facilities in this area. Our short-term care ratings are likely most important for individuals needing rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation generally utilizes additional highly-skilled nursing. This means not only nursing services, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

This nursing home's nursing grade appears to be one of its better features. The facility received a grade of C in this category. Our nursing rating is largely based on a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This place provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics. Although this nursing home got dinged a bit for its nursing hours per resident, it excelled in some of these quality-based measures. With fewer than five percent of its patients sustaining pressure ulcers, it did well in this statistic. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as employing a policy of turning a resident more often.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The final area we rated is long-term care, which turned out to be this facility's weakest category. We awarded this nursing home a grade of D in that area. Naturally, this category hurt the facility's overall grade to some degree. When nursing homes receive this type of grade in this category it is a bad sign for resident care and it may mean that the facility is not as well-staffed with nurses and aids. In addition to looking at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 76.37795 percent of its patients. This is several points below the national average. Surprisingly, this facility was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.
