Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

While we were fairly low on this facility overall, we awarded it an A+ for our inspections rating. This score is significantly more impressive than the facility's overall grade. Our inspection scores are based on datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key item to look for on these inspections. Most importantly, you should avoid facilities with severe deficiencies associated with risks to resident well being. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This facilities next most favorable area is long-term care. We awarded it a grade of C in this area. This is essentially a slightly below average score in this area. If you are looking for services other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care grades. One of the criteria we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours was vaccinations. Frankly, we were a bit concerned this nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccination to just 57.983196 percent of its patients. Nevertheless, this place keeps its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

In addition, we gave this facility an F in the area of nursing care. There are a variety of criteria included in this category. Many of these factors reflect the quantity of nurse staffing. This nursing home offered a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is an alarmingly low total. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing grades. This nursing home fared well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Moving on to our fourth category, this facility didn't fare well here either. With a very poor grade of F in short-term care, this is about as terrible as it gets. In calculating our short-term care scores, we look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The purpose is to create a scale for comparing the rehabilitation services of different nursing homes. Given its grade in this category, we were not surprised to learn that this nursing home was well below average in terms of the number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the metrics we assessed. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. This was not a strength for this facility. We found that just 4 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most facilities, around half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
