Long-term Care Quality
On top of being a quality nursing home overall, this nursing home really excelled in long-term care, where it received an A. Few nursing homes performed better in this category. Long-term care scores in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. On top of considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 81.83908 percent of its patients. This is somewhat less than we expected. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we had hoped, at least this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Facility Inspections
In addition, this facility also earned excellent health inspections in recent years. We gave them one of our better grades in that area, with a grade of A. Our inspection scores account for a host of factors included in a facility's inspection report. One key criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with better grades in this category generally have very few severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home's next best category was nursing. We awarded it a grade of B- in this category. While this wasn't quite as good as some of its other category grades, this isn't a bad score either. Our nursing score weighs many datapoints. The most important factor is the amount of time nurses spend with residents. This facility averages just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis, which is well below average. Finally, although this facility got dinged a bit for nursing hours, it actually excelled in a few of our quality-based measures. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it fared well in this subcategory.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning to our next category, this facility received a decent short-term care rating. Even though this isn't nearly as elite as a few of its other scores, this is really a middle of the pack score. Short-term care grades are based on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This means a broad spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, in addition to other forms of therapy. It does not appear that this facility provided data regarding its registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. Finally, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 4.7 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit below the national average.
