Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of B- for our nursing rating. Our nursing rating focuses on the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We factor in both the levels of licensure of those nurses as well as the number of hours spent with residents. This place provides only 0 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is a somewhat alarming figure which is well below average. Finally, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this nursing home actually performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is generally a reliable indicator that a nursing home has quality controls in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

We were also surprised to find that this nursing home received a somewhat respectable short-term care score in our assessment. We awarded it a grade of B- in that area. Our short-term care grade is generally employed to gauge a facility's rehabilitation services. To provide high-end rehabilitation services, facilities generally must have higher levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. Unfortunately, this place was below average in terms of its number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the measures we assessed. The real question is whether this also affected quality of care. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.1 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.

Facility Inspections

Grade: F

Unfortunately, this nursing home received really weak inspection reports in recent years, causing them to receive an F for inspections. An F in this category is typically a sign that we found red flags on the facility's inspections. With places that received this bad of an inspection grade, we would scrutinize any severe deficiencies on its inspection report. This particular facility was assessed one category G through L deficiency, which rank among the more severe categories of deficiencies. This generally indicates that the deficiencies found by CMS had potential to cause actual harm to residents. Another area of concern is that CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The last category we graded was long-term care, in which this nursing home was given an abysmal score here also. We gave it an F in this area, which is obviously a major concern. Facilities that do not fare well in long-term care typically are not as well-staffed and are lagging in some of the areas of routine personal care we looked at. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. We found that this nursing home gave the vaccine to just 85.11628 percent of its residents, which is quite a bit lower than we expected. Surprisingly, this facility was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This was its best score in this category.
