Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of receiving a strong overall score, this facility received an A+ inspection grade. This score is based on its recent inspection reports. An A+ in this area is one of the highest complements we can offer a nursing home. Inspection grades are based on many pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that score well in this area typically have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility excelled in our nursing rating. We awarded them an impressive grade of A+ in this category. Nursing grades are based largely on levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Compounding its remarkable profile, this facility also was awarded a strong long-term care grade, with a score of A-. Facilities that excel in this category typically are well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to residents. After we finished looking at the quantity of nursing care, we next considered the facility's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia tragically can be a life or death illness for nursing home patients so we prefer when a nursing home doesn't leave this to chance. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Turning to our last area, this facility was awarded a highly favorable short-term care grade. While this is not nearly as good as several of its other grades, this is nevertheless one of our better scores a facility can receive. Short-term care grades are typically employed to measure a facility's rehabilitation services. In order to offer highly graded rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to have higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other types of therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 4.9 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
