Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

Although we did not rate this facility favorably overall, we want to point out its relatively solid inspections in recent years. We gave it a B+ in this area, which is much better than its overall grade. Perhaps the most significant factor we consider in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. It is generally in your best interest to avoid places that had a long list of severe deficiencies. Fortunately, although this facility had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This nursing home's short-term care grade is one of its better features. The facility received a grade of C in this category. In our short-term care score, we try to craft a valuable measure for rehabilitation. In this process, we look at the nursing home's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Unfortunately, this place was below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the metrics we assessed. The last datapoint we considered in this category is the percentage of patients that ultimately were able to return home from the facility. We found that just 4.5 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. This figure was below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

This nursing home actually received a decent grade in the area of nursing as well. We awarded it a grade of C for that category, which is not a bad score. When determining a facility's nursing score, we look at the quantity of hours nurses commit to residents and the levels of training of the nurses. This facility provides only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is a somewhat alarming figure which is well below average. Lastly, despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this nursing home performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is typically a reliable indicator that a nursing home has sufficient quality controls in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Switching gears to the final category, this nursing home really did not fare well here either. Due to a bottom of the barrel grade of F in long-term care, this is about as terrible as it gets. Facilities that do not score well in this category often do not provide as much nursing care and also may be struggling in some of the areas of routine healthcare services we looked at. One of the criteria we considered after nurse's aid hours was vaccines. We were a bit worried that this nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to a relatively low 52.10084 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this place was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.
