As a result, it received one of our highest grades in this category with an A. Our inspection grades are tied to several datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that score well in this category typically have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. In the area of short-term care, we attempt to assess measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We analyze a nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final datapoint we considered in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. Grade: C

This nursing home's next best category was nursing. We awarded it a grade of C in this category. This is basically a middle of the road grade in this category. We weighed the qualifications of nurses employed by the facility, as well as the quantity of hours the nurses were with residents, in calculating our rating in this category. This facility provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is a lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics. Although this place got dinged a bit for nursing hours per resident, it excelled in some of these quality measures. With fewer than five percent of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, it fared well in this metric. This can be a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as employing a policy of turning patients even once per day.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The last area we analyzed was long-term care. We awarded this nursing home a C in this category. In determining our long-term care scores, we quantify the nursing home's ability to maintain its permanent residents' health and quality of life. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents, which is more than the vast majority of nursing homes. This nursing home was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
