Nurse Quality

Grade: A

On top of being a first rate facility overall, this nursing home also excelled in the area of nursing, where it earned an A. Few nursing homes performed better in this category. The nursing grade is based on many factors. The most important one is the amount of time nurses spend with residents. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

This facility has earned near flawless inspections recently. We awarded them an impressive grade of A in this area. Inspection scores are based on pieces of information found on the a nursing home's inspections. Places that receive favorable grades in this area tend to have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these places generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Although this place had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Turning our third category, this facility was given a top-shelf long-term care grade. In fact, we awarded it a score of A- in this area. Facilities that do well in long-term care tend to provide patients with closer supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 99.42857 percent of its residents, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia is often a dangerous health condition for nursing home patients so we prefer when a nursing home does not leave this to chance. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

In the last category we assessed, this nursing home received an impressive grade grade of B+ in our short-term care category. With this grade, the facility topped off a very impressive report card. In the category of short-term care, we strive to assess measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We assess the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 4.8 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
