Nurse Quality

Grade: A

On top of earning a great overall score, this nursing home excelled in nursing. We awarded it an A for that category. The nursing grade is based on many factors. The most important one is the amount of time nurses spend with residents. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This facility also was superb in the area of long-term care, where we awarded it a grade of A. Not many facilities fared better in this category. Nursing homes that excel in long-term care tend to be well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to patients. Once we looked at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 98.540146 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents out of the hospital. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

We also want to point out the fact that this facility received a dominant score of A in our short-term care area. Short-term care grades are commonly used to judge a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation To provide high-end rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must have higher levels of skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last item we considered in this area is the number of patients who returned home from the facility. We found that 5.9 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Lastly, this facility also received a nearly flawless inspection report. As a result, it earned one of our highest grades in that category with an A. With this impressive grade, this place is one of the few facilities in Pennsylvania to receive straight A's. These inspection ratings take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This nursing home was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe. This indicates that the inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies to cause an imminent threat to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
