Nurse Quality
One of the many reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is that it received an A+ nursing grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this category. In calculating our nursing ratings, we look at both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the skill levels of those nurses. This nursing home provided 3.9 hours of nursing care per resident each day. Roughly a quarter of those hours were provided by registered nurses, which are among the most skilled levels of nurses. These are both impressive figures, which typically corresponds with higher quality care. Finally, this place also excelled in the quality measures we looked at. It performed as well as any facility the nation when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
Facility Inspections
This facility also received an A+ inspection score, making it one of the few facilities to receive multiple A+'s in our categories. This score is based on the place's government inspections. Arguably the most significant factor we consider in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Nursing homes with better grades in this area most likely dodged the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. While this facility had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G through L. This tells you that the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
The third category we looked at is long-term care. This facility also received an A+ long-term care grade, rendering it one of the few facilities to receive more than one A+ category grades. When facilities receive this kind of grade in this category it is usually a good sign for patient care and indicates that the facility is well-staffed with nurses and aids. Once we looked at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 94.16667 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients healthy. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
In the last area, we gave this nursing home an A+ for our short-term care rating. This completed an elite profile. Our short-term care ratings are based in part on the facility's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a wide scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. This nursing home elevated its grade in this category by offering more care from registered nurses to its residents than the average facility. The last measure we considered in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
