Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall score, we gave it a grade of B- for our nursing category. We looked at the skill-level of nurses at the facility, as well as the number of hours those nurses spent with residents, in calculating our rating in this area. This nursing home provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a low total compared to most nursing homes. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility actually fared better in some of the quality-based metrics we assessed. It performed well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
Short-term Care Quality
We were also surprised to learn that this facility earned a decent short-term care grade in our assessment. We awarded it a C in this category. Our short-term care grades are considered to be most meaningful for folks requiring rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation typically utilizes additional skilled nursing services. This means not just nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this place provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The more important thing is determining what bearing this had on quality of care. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 3.3 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.

Long-term Care Quality
We awarded this facility just a D for our long-term care rating. This is not an impressive grade. If you are looking for anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care ratings. Once we looked at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination data. We were pleased to find that this facility vaccinated 98.81423 percent of its residents for pneumonia. To our surprise, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
Facility Inspections
Moving on the final category of inspections, this nursing home had an abysmal showing. It received an F in our inspection category. This is the most heavily weighted category in our overall scoring system. For nursing homes that received this bad of an inspection rating, we would scrutinize the severe deficiencies on its inspection report. This nursing home was assessed 4 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only positive thing we can say is that none of these deficiencies were in the categories that indicate that they posed a threat to resident safety or health. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
