Short-term Care Quality
We also found that this nursing home excelled in our short-term care rating. We gave them an A+ in this category. Our short-term care ratings are meaningful for residents needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates more highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes a wide range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last item we looked at in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that 6.7 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
Facility Inspections
Adding to its impressive grades, we gave this facility an A for inspections. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing our inspection ratings. One of those factors is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these are relatively insignificant. Although this facility had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' scale. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor made us feel better about this inspection report.

Nurse Quality
Adding to its profile, this facility also earned a grade of B+ for its nursing rating. This is a well above average score in this category. The nursing score assesses quite a few factors, many of which are associated with nursing hours. This particular nursing home provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we graded was long-term care. In this category, we gave this nursing home a decent grade of C. This actually is this facility's least impressive category. For prospective patients seeking a permanent place to live rather than rehabilitation, long-term care is an important category. Once we finished looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. We were pleased to find that this facility vaccinates 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia. This facility keeps its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
