Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
While this facility's overall grade was rock bottom, it didn't perform as poorly in the area of nursing. In fact, we awarded it a B- for this category. In determining our nursing scores, we factor in both staffing levels and the levels of licensure of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours per resident, this facility performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is often a reliable indicator that a place has quality controls in place.
Short-term Care Quality
We were also pleasantly surprised to discover that this facility received a somewhat respectable short-term care grade in our assessment. We gave it a grade of B- in this area. In the area of short-term care, we try to assess measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We assess the facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Unfortunately, we found that this place provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The more important thing is determining what effect this had on the quality of care. The last metric we considered in this category is the number of residents that who were able to eventually return home from the facility. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Facility Inspections
This facility received really weak government inspections in recent years, causing us to give them a lowly F in our inspection category. An F in this category is usually a signal that there were red flags on the nursing home's government inspection reports. We would advise paying close attention to any deficiencies on a facility's inspection reports when it receives this bad of an inspection rating. We would pay close attention to the level of severity of those deficiencies. This particular nursing home was assessed 5 deficiencies by CMS. The only positive thing we found is that none of the deficiencies were in the categories that suggest that they created a risk to patient health or safety. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
Long-term Care Quality
The final category we rated was long-term care. We gave it an abysmal F in this area, which is a poor score. When nursing homes receive this type of grade in this category it is often a bad sign for patient care and it may mean that the nursing home is not as well-staffed with nurses and aids. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. As it turns out, this facility administered the vaccine to only 79.207924 percent of its residents, which is somewhat concerning. Surprisingly, this facility was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This was its best score in this category.
