Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the many reasons this turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it received an A+ in our inspections category. This is as good as it gets in this area. These inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This place was assessed 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that the inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Compounding its high-end performance in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a score of A for our long-term care rating. Nursing homes that receive this kind of score in this category typically provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure patients are kept in good health. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents. Vaccines are vital to keeping patients healthy. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility also was awarded an impressive short-term care score. In fact, we awarded it an above average score of B+ in this category. Our short-term care grade is often employed to gauge a nursing home's rehabilitation services To provide good rehabilitation services, facilities generally must feature higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. Unfortunately, we were not able to find information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. Finally, we looked at the number of patients that ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next category we assessed was nursing, in which this facility was awarded a B-. This actually turned out to be this nursing home's least impressive area. This is still not a bad grade. In calculating a facility's nursing rating, we consider the number of hours nurses are seeing patients as well as the level of skill of those nurses. This particular nursing home provided just 0 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This figure is significantly below average. Finally, nursing ratings also factor in quality-based assessments, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this facility actually performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is often a good indicator that a place has sufficient quality controls in place. Some falls can be avoided if a facility provides enough nurses to assist its residents.
