Nurse Quality
On top of being a first rate facility overall, this facility also excelled in the category of nursing, where it received an A+. Few nursing homes fared better in this area. Our nursing rating includes several datapoints, however, the primary one is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This place offers a very impressive 4.8 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is among the better totals in the country. Lastly, this nursing home also excelled in the quality-based metrics we looked at. It performed as well as any facility the state when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
Short-term Care Quality
On the list of its many impressive scores, this facility received a strong short-term care score. In fact, it received a score of A in that category. In the area of short-term care, we attempt to assess measures of a facility's rehabilitation. We assess the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. This facility excelled in the two key staffing areas we looked at. The facility supplied more care from physical therapists and registered nurses than the average facility. This is an encouraging sign. The last metric we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents who ultimately returned home from the facility. We found that it performed as well as just about any facility in California in this area with 61.3 percent of its patients returning home. At most facilities, fewer than half of their short-term residents are able to return home.

Facility Inspections
This nursing home has had near flawless government inspections in recent years. We gave them an impressive grade of A in this category. Perhaps the most significant factor we consider in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places with higher scores in this category most likely avoided the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. While this place had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' scale. A few minor dings aren't necessarily something to panic about.
Long-term Care Quality
The next category we scored was long-term care. This facility was awarded a better than average nursing rating this year, with a B. Even though this was not nearly as strong as many of its other scores, this remains one of our more favorable scores in this category. When facilities receive a score in this range in long-term care it typically means it has plenty of staff and is a quality place to live on a permanent basis. After looking at the significant amount of nursing hours provided by this facility, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is far higher than the average nursing home. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
