Facility Inspections
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a B- for our inspections rating. In fact, the facility received very impressive inspection report this year. We would argue that one of the most critical factors in evaluating an inspection report is deficiencies. We especially focus on the severity of those deficiencies. This nursing home was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies an immediate threat to patient safety or health. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home also didn't fare too badly in the category of long-term care. Indeed, we gave it a grade of B- for that area, which wound up being among its more respectable grades. If you are looking for services other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care ratings. In addition to looking at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home administered the vaccine to 99.69231 percent of its patients, which is an above average figure. Finally, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.04 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home also didn't rate too badly in the area of short-term care. In fact, we gave it a C in that area, which ended up being another one of its higher scores. In crafting our short-term care grades, we assess the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our purpose is to devise a scale for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. Unfortunately, we found that this nursing home provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. The last metric we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is actually below average.
Nurse Quality
The final category we analyzed is nursing. We gave it an F for this area, which is a very poor grade. In calculating a facility's nursing grade, we weigh the amount of time nurses spend with patients and the levels of training of the nurses. This nursing home averaged just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing ratings. This facility performed well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these statistics to be good measures of the quality of nursing care.
