Facility Inspections
Although we did not rate this nursing home favorably overall, we want to draw your attention to its excellent health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an A+ in this category. These inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this place had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
This facilities next most favorable category is long-term care. We awarded it a C in this category. This is basically a slightly below average grade in this area. For long-term care residents, the primary goal is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. Once we concluded our assessment of the amount of care provided by nurses, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination record. We were a bit concerned this nursing home vaccinated just 84.46602 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Fortunately, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality
We also wanted to draw your attention to this facility's poor nursing grade where it received an F. In calculating a facility's nursing rating, we weigh the quantity of hours nurses commit to patients and the skill levels of those nurses. This nursing home offered only 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient each day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing scores. This facility performed well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these metrics to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
The next category we scored was short-term care. It received an abysmal F for this area, which is a very poor grade. Our short-term care scores are considered to be more meaningful for those in need of rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation typically requires higher levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes not just nursing services, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Given its score in this area, we were not stunned to discover that this place was well below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the measures we looked at. Finally, we looked at the number of residents who eventually returned home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.3 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
