Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

While we did not rate this nursing home favorably overall, we want to point out its relatively favorable government inspections in recent years. We gave it a B+ in this area, which was much better than its overall score. Inspection ratings weigh a host of factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. You should avoid facilities with a list of deficiencies flagged. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

We also gave this facility a middle of the road grade in the area of long-term care, where we gave it a B-. Our long-term care grades are more critical for individuals requiring more traditional assistance associated with activities of daily living. After we finished looking at the amount of nursing care, we turned to the facility's vaccination statistics. We were pleased to find that this nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Finally, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

This nursing home actually received a decent grade in the area of nursing as well. We awarded it a grade of C for that category, which is not a bad score. Our nursing grade includes a handful of datapoints, many of which are associated with quantities of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Finally, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this place performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is generally an indicator that a nursing home has sufficient quality controls in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The last category we analyzed is short-term care, which turned out to be this facility's worst area. We awarded this facility a D in that area. Short-term care ratings are critical for prospective residents seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically mandates additional highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes a wide scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Considering its grade in this area, we were not surprised to learn that this facility is well below average in terms of the number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its patients based on the metrics we assessed. Finally, we looked at the number of patients that were able to return home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
