Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
Even though we graded this facility extremely poorly overall, it received a somewhat respectable nursing score this year. We gave it a C in this category. Our nursing grade assesses the facility's level of nurse staffing. We weigh both the levels of skill of those nurses and the number of hours spent with patients. This place provides 0.2 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we were hoping for. Finally, although this place got docked a bit for nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in some of our quality measures. With fewer than five percent of its residents experiencing pressure ulcers, it did remarkably well in this statistic.
Short-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this facility only received a D for its short-term care score, which was actually one of its better category grades. Short-term care scores are important for prospective residents requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates additional skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes a vast scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Considering its grade in this area, we weren't surprised to discover that this facility is well below average in terms of its number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the metrics we looked at. Honestly, this was what we expected here. The last statistic we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents that eventually returned home from the facility. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 5.3 percent of its patients returning home. This was quite a bit below the national average.

Long-term Care Quality
The next category we graded was long-term care. This facility's received a low-end long-term care grade where it received an F. For patients in need of a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. One of the factors we considered in addition to nursing hours was vaccinations. Thankfully, this facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 94.927536 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this place also fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had just 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
Facility Inspections
In our last category of inspections, this nursing home received an F here. When a nursing home has this bad of an inspection score, you should expect some severe deficiencies on its inspection report. Severe deficiencies indicate a threat to resident safety. This particular facility was assessed 5 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only positive thing we found is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that indicate they posed a threat to resident safety or health. Lastly, this nursing home was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. This is generally a really bad sign. We would never recommend this facility.
