Facility Inspections
In addition to being a quality nursing home overall, this place excelled in the area of inspections, where it received a grade of A-. Not many nursing homes performed better in this area. Inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This nursing home was hit with 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that the government inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies to cause an imminent threat to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility was awarded high scores in the area of long-term care as well. Indeed, we awarded it one of our most dominant scores in that area with a score of A-. When nursing homes receive this kind of grade in long-term care it is usually a good sign for patient care and indicates that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses aids. After looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is much higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality
The next area we graded is short-term care. This facility was awarded a very positive short-term care grade, with a grade of B+ in the area. Our short-term care scores are presumably most important for folks in need of rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation generally utilizes higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. This includes not merely nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last item we considered in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We found that 5.1 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.
Nurse Quality
The final category we looked at was nursing, where this facility was awarded a grade of C. This is this nursing home's worst category. This is still not the end of the world. The nursing score includes quite a few data points, but the main one is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This place provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is a much lower figure than we were hoping for. Finally, we like to look at quality-based metrics, such as the percentage of residents who suffered pressure ulcers and major falls. Sometimes these statistics are indicators of the quality of nursing care.
