Registered Staff Hours
Facility Inspections
This facility received a strong overall score as described above, but we especially would like to point out its nearly flawless inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A in this area. Inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.
Long-term Care Quality
Among the reasons we rated this nursing home so favorably is that it received a favorable long-term care grade. In fact, long-term care is its second most impressive category score. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A-. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in long-term care it generally means it has plenty of staff and is a quality place to reside on a permanent basis. One of the statistics we considered on top of nurse's aid hours is vaccines. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to 93.905815 percent of its residents. This is a reliable method to avoid unnecessary deaths and hospitalizations for the nursing home population. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
The next highest grade we gave this nursing home came in the category of nursing, where we gave it a grade of B-. This wasn't quite as good as some of its other scores, but a grade in this range is not the end of the world. The nursing grade includes quite a few subcategories, however, the most important one is the number of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides only 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is a somewhat discouraging figure which is well below the national average. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility surprisingly excelled in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at. It performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we scored is short-term care. We awarded this nursing home a grade of C in that area. Our short-term care grade is often employed to score a facility's rehabilitation services. In order to offer good rehabilitation services, facilities generally must offer better levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final item we considered in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that just 4.7 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is actually below average.
