Facility Inspections
While we were not very complementary of this nursing home's overall score, it actually received a very impressive inspection report this year. In fact, it received an excellent inspection report this year. As a result, it earned one of our best grades in that category with a grade of A. Inspection ratings weigh several factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. You generally want to avoid places with a bunch of deficiencies flagged. Although this facility had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' scale. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility's short-term care score appears to be one of its more favorable grades. The facility was awarded a C in this category. Short-term care scores are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a vast spectrum of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, not to mention other types of therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this facility provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. The final measure we considered in this area is the number of patients who were able to return home from the facility. We found that just 5.9 percent of this facility's residents returned home. Unfortunately, this was below average.

Nurse Quality
We also wanted to draw your attention to this facility's poor nursing grade where it received an F. The nursing score includes numerous subcategories. The most important factor is the quantity of hours nurses spend with residents. This place offered just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is not a very impressive figure. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing grades. This place performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these metrics to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we scored was long-term care. We gave it an abysmal F for this category, which is a bottom of the barrel grade. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids. After considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination statistics. We were a bit bothered by the fact that this facility vaccinated 64.21801 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is several points less than the national average. To our surprise, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This is its best feature in this category.
