Facility Inspections
We also wanted to point out the fact that this facility earned near flawless government inspections in recent years. We awarded them an A+ in this area. Our inspection scores weigh a host of factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher scores in this area typically have few of these severe deficiencies. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. You can not go wrong with a deficiency-free inspection report.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home also received a very impressive nursing grade. In fact, this turned out to be its second best category grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A. Nursing ratings are primarily tied to the facility's level of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality
The next area we assessed was long-term care. This facility was given an above average long-term care score, with a B in this category. For residents looking for a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 92.608696 percent of its residents. This is somewhat below what we were hoping for but still a respectable percentage. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
Short-term Care Quality
The last area we analyzed was short-term care, where this facility was awarded a grade of B. Believe it or not, this is this nursing home's worst category. A facility is doing something right when it's weakest grade still rates higher than most other nursing homes. In the category of short-term care, we strive to qualify indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We analyze a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last metric we considered in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that 4.3 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
