Facility Inspections
We also wanted to emphasize that this nursing home earned near flawless government inspections recently. We awarded them an A+ in this category. Inspection scores weigh several factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with better grades in this area generally have very few severe deficiencies. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Compounding its elite performance in other areas, we awarded this facility a score of A for its long-term care grade. If you are looking for services other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care grades. One of the factors we considered after nurse's aid hours is vaccinations. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccination to 85.89211 percent of its patients. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, at least this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
Another one of this facility's impressive category grades came in the area of nursing care. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of B+. The nursing rating weighs a handful of components, however, the primary one is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
The next category we graded was short-term care. This facility was given an above average short-term care rating this year, with a grade of B-. Even though this is not as dominant as many of its other scores, this is nevertheless an acceptable grade in that category. Our short-term care grade is often used to assess a nursing home's rehabilitation services. To provide quality rehabilitation services, facilities generally must have better levels of skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final metric we looked at in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 4.3 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is below average.
