Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a strong facility overall, it also received A+ government inspections in recent years. Its inspections were nearly perfect. Our inspection ratings account for a host of factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we consider is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher grades in this category usually have very few of these severe deficiencies. This facility received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that the inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies to be an immediate risk to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Among its many high-end grades, this nursing home received first-rate long-term care score. In fact, it received a grade of A- in this category. If you are seeking anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care scores. Once we looked at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 81.57895 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which happens to be a bit lower than we anticipated but still a respectable percentage. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

In addition, this facility also received favorable nursing grades this year. In fact, we awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of B. We looked at the qualifications of nurses at the facility, as well as the quantity of time those nurses worked with residents, in calculating our rating in this area. This facility provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as by employing a protocol of moving residents more frequently.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The final area we graded is short-term care. In this area, we awarded this facility an impressive grade of B. In calculating our short-term care grades, we assess a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other types of therapists. This rating is more often than not a fair assessment of the nursing home's ability to rehabilitate patients. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients that were able to return home from this facility. We found that 5.5 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
