Facility Inspections
Although we graded this nursing home incredibly poorly overall, it actually earned a very impressive government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our more favorable grades in that area with a B. Perhaps the most important factor we consider in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. It is generally in your best interest to avoid nursing homes that have a long list of deficiencies. This nursing home was hit with 6 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This means that the inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
Unfortunately, we gave this facility an F for its nursing grade. The nursing score considers several datapoints. The most heavily weighted variable is the number of hours nurses spent with patients. This facility averaged only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is an alarmingly low total. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing ratings. This nursing home fared well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these statistics to be indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality
In addition, we gave this facility an F in the area of long-term care. For patients looking for a permanent residence as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are a key measure. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 96.0644 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this nursing home also keeps its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we rated is short-term care. Unfortunately, we gave it a lowly F for this category, which is a bottom of the barrel score. Our short-term care ratings are presumably most critical for individuals in need of a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes higher levels of skilled nursing services. This means not only nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Finally, we looked at the number of residents that returned home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.4 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
