Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility excelled in our nursing rating. We awarded them an impressive grade of A+ in this category. When computing a nursing home's nursing grade, we look at the number of hours nurses spend with patients and the level of skill of the nurses. This nursing home averages 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This facility really excelled in the category of short-term care, where we awarded it a score of A. Very few nursing homes performed better in this category. In our short-term care assessment, we endeavor to craft a sound barometer for rehabilitation. In this process, we look at a nursing home's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final item we assessed in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We found that 6 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

We also found that this facility has received favorable inspections in recent years. In fact, we awarded it a B- in this category. This is better than many nursing homes in this category. Our inspection scores are based on pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important item to look for on these reports. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to resident safety. This nursing home received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that the inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to create an immediate risk to resident health or safety. We should note that deficiency-free inspections are rare in this industry.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The next area we scored is long-term care. This facility was given a very good long-term care grade in our assessment, with a C. While this wasn't quite as strong as a few of its other scores, this is still an acceptable rating for that area. In forming our long-term care grades, we analyze the nursing home's personal care services. Once we assessed the volume of nursing care, we then looked at the facility's vaccination data. We were a bit worried that this facility vaccinated only 85.8209 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Fortunately, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
