To go along with its relatively modest overall grade, we gave this facility a grade of A- for its inspection grade. This grade is far more impressive than the facility's overall rating. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection scores. One key factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some end up being quite minor. This particular nursing home received 5 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

In forming these short-term care scores, we assess the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The purpose is to create a scale for comparing the rehabilitation services of different nursing homes. Unfortunately, this place was below average in terms of its level of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the metrics we assessed. The important question is whether this also impacted quality of care. The last metric we looked at in this area is the number of patients that who were able to eventually return home from the facility. We found that just 4.9 percent of this facility's patients returned home. Unfortunately, this was below average.

Next, we looked at the nursing category where we awarded this nursing home a grade of C, which is a decent grade. Our nursing score is largely tied to a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Finally, although this nursing home got docked a bit for its nursing hours, it actually excelled in a few of our quality metrics. With fewer than five percent of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed very well in this metric.

In our long-term care score, we weigh the sheer quantity of care provided by a nursing home, along with a few quality metrics. After we finished looking at the amount of care provided by nurses, we next considered the facility's vaccination statistics. Frankly, we were a bit worried that this facility vaccinated just 65.13761 percent of its residents for pneumonia. On a more positive note, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
