Facility Inspections
While this place's overall grade was as bad as it gets, it actually didn't perform terribly in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a C for that category, which is one of our better scores. Inspection scores weigh a host of factors included in a facility's inspection report. One key criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. This nursing home was hit with 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to find that none were in categories J through L. This indicates that CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies to place patient safety or health in immediate harm or jeopardy. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received significant government fines in recent years.
Short-term Care Quality
We also wanted to point out this nursing home's unfortunate short-term care grade where it was given an F. Our short-term care scores are based in part on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a vast spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. Considering its abysmal rating in this category, we were not stunned to find this facility offers significantly fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. Finally, we looked at the number of patients that who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.6 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Nurse Quality
Unfortunately, we gave this facility an F for its nursing grade. Our nursing score assesses the nursing home's nurse staffing levels. We factor in both the levels of skill of those nurses as well as the number of hours spent with residents. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
Long-term Care Quality
Switching gears to our last area, this nursing home did not perform very well in this category either. With a very poor grade of F in long-term care, this is just about as bad as it gets. In a long-term care environment, the nursing home's primary goal is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. After looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination data. We were optimistic to learn that this nursing home vaccinated 98.85058 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Surprisingly, this nursing home also fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
