Facility Inspections
With an overall grade this high, it should come as no surprise that this nursing home excelled in inspections, where it received a grade of A. Inspection grades are based on datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that excel in this area tend to have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Fortunately, although this facility had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Nurse Quality
We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility received an impressive grade of A in our nursing category. Our nursing rating considers a host of datapoints. The most heavily weighted one is the quantity of hours nurses spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home Minnesota in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as having a system of turning residents more frequently.

Long-term Care Quality
Moving on our third area, this facility was given a strong long-term care score. In fact, we gave it a grade of A- in this category. Facilities that excel in long-term care tend to be well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to patients. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 98.3871 percent of its patients, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia tragically can be a life or death condition for nursing home residents so we strongly prefer when a nursing home doesn't leave this to chance. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Short-term Care Quality
In our last category, this facility also was given a first-rate short-term care rating, with an A-. This completed an elusive straight A report card. Short-term care scores are important for prospective residents in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally requires higher levels of skilled nursing services. This means a broad range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last measure we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
