Facility Inspections

Grade: A

With an overall grade this high, it should come as no surprise that this nursing home excelled in the area of inspections, where it received a grade of A. Our inspection grades are based on items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that excel in this category tend to have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. While this place had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G through L. This tells you CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspection reports are rare in this industry.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

This facility also excelled in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of A. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. When computing a facility's nursing grade, we consider the amount of time nurses are caring for residents and the skill levels of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Turning to another strength for this nursing home, we gave them one of our more favorable scores in our long-term care category as well, with a B. When facilities receive this type of score in this category it is a good sign for resident care and indicates that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses aids. After considering the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 99.68553 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping patients out of the hospital. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The next category we assessed is short-term care. We awarded this nursing home one of our more favorable scores in this area, with a grade of B. While this is not as high as many of this nursing home's other grades, it is nevertheless a perfectly acceptable grade. In computing our short-term care ratings, we assess the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our goal is to formulate a barometer for comparing the rehabilitation services of different facilities. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients that who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. We found that 4.5 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
