Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a respectable nursing home overall, this facility also excelled in the area of inspections, where it earned an A+. Few facilities performed better in this category. Inspection ratings weigh several factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher scores in this area typically have very few severe deficiencies. This nursing home was assessed 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This means that the government inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to cause an immediate risk to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is always a good sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

We also awarded this nursing home a favorable score in long-term care. This nursing home earned a grade of B+ in this area, which is one of our more impressive scores. Nursing homes that receive this kind of grade in this category tend to provide consistent around the clock care to make sure residents are kept in good health. After looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 64.97175 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is a few points below what we expected but still a reasonably acceptable figure. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we hoped for, we were pleased to find place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

This facility's second worse category was short-term care, where it received just a D in that area. This is a relatively poor grade. In the area of short-term care, we endeavor to qualify measures of a facility's rehabilitation services. We assess a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and various therapists. With its poor score in this area, we were not surprised to discover that this place offered significantly fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most facilities. Finally, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 5.1 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

This facility's worst area was nursing, which is the final category we looked at. Unfortunately, we gave it an abysmal F in this category. Despite multiple decent grades in other areas, this grade is still alarming so we wanted to make sure you are aware. When calculating our nursing grades, we factor in both staffing levels and the skill levels of those nurses. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing scores. This facility performed well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
