While we didn't rate this nursing home favorably overall, we gave it an excellent grade in our short-term care category, where it earned an A-. Short-term care grades are often employed to assess a facility's rehabilitation services. In order to offer highly rated rehabilitation services, facilities generally must have higher levels of skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. However, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last statistic we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

We also want to point out that this facility received a decent grade in our nursing category. We awarded it a grade of B- in the area. Nursing grades are based largely on levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Lastly, although this facility got docked a bit for its nursing hours, it excelled in some of our quality-based measures. With less than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it did remarkably well in this metric.

Unfortunately, with a grade of D in the inspection category, this facility performed relatively poorly in that area. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. We would pay close attention to the severity of the deficiencies. This particular facility had 2 deficiencies on its inspection report. The only positive thing we can say is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that suggest they created a threat to patient safety or health. Lastly, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this place was assessed large government fines in recent years of more than $50,000. This often suggests that inspectors became frustrated after several years of bad inspections.

The final category we analyzed was long-term care, in which this nursing home received an abysmal score in this area also. Unfortunately, we gave it a lowly F for this area, which is obviously a major disappointment. Facilities that don't fare well in long-term care typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in some of the areas of routine medical care we looked at. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 93.57798 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which happens to be a bit below what we anticipated but still a decent percentage. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had less hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This was its best score in this category.
