Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a B- for our inspections rating. In fact, the facility received very impressive inspection report this year. Inspection scores are tied to many items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important thing to look for on these reports. Severe deficiencies indicate a threat to patient safety. This nursing home was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies an immediate risk to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circumstance.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This nursing home also didn't perform terribly in the category of long-term care. In fact, we awarded it a grade of C for that category, which ended up being among its higher scores. For long-term care residents, the primary goal is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. After assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination data. Frankly, we were a bit concerned this facility vaccinated 82.27848 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which happens to be significantly below what we were hoping for. On a more positive note, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Our next area we looked at is short-term care, in which this facility was given an F. In our short-term care assessment, we endeavor to create a valuable gauge for rehabilitation. In this process, we look at a nursing home's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. As you might expect, we found that this facility provides substantially less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than a typical facility. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients that were able to return home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.8 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

The last category we looked at was nursing. This nursing home received a poor grade of F in this category. There are a number of criteria within this grade. Many of these criteria reflect levels of nurse staffing. This place provided a meager 0.2 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is not a very impressive figure. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing ratings. This facility performed well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these metrics to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care.
