Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

We also wanted to point out the fact that this nursing home earned near flawless government inspections recently. We awarded them an impressive grade of A+ in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing these inspection ratings. One of those factors is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are relatively insignificant. Fortunately, although this place had some minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G through L. This means CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its high-end profile, this facility also was given a superb long-term care grade, with a grade of A-. Facilities that excel in long-term care typically provide patients with more supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 99.51923 percent of its patients. Vaccines are vital to keeping patients out of the hospital. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

In addition, this facility also received favorable nursing grades this year. In fact, we awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of B. The nursing rating analyzes a handful of datapoints, but the most important consideration is the quantity of nurse hours spent with patients. This facility provided 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The last category we graded is short-term care, where this facility was given a B-. Although this is its poorest category grade, this is still not the end of the world. With our short-term care category, we strive to craft a sound measure for rehabilitation. In this process, we analyze the nursing home's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. It does not look like this facility provided registered nurse or physical therapist staffing data. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 4.8 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.
