Short-term Care Quality
In addition to being a quality nursing home overall, this nursing home excelled in the category of short-term care, where it received a grade of A-. Few facilities performed better in this area. Our short-term care grade is commonly employed to assess a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. To have highly scored rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to provide higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other types of therapists. We were not able to find information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. The last item we considered in this area is the percentage of patients who ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 5.9 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
Facility Inspections
In addition, this facility also received excellent inspections in recent years. We awarded them one of our better grades in that category, with an B+. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection ratings. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these end up being quite minor. This place was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe. This indicates that the inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies to be an immediate risk to patient safety or health. A couple relatively minor dings are not the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality
The third category we assessed is long-term care. In that category, we gave this facility a solid grade of B-. In a long-term care environment, the primary objective is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. Once we assessed the volume of nursing care, we next considered the facility's vaccination record. We were optimistic to learn that this facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia. This place keeps its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Nurse Quality
Our final category is nursing, in which we awarded this nursing home a B- in that category. The nursing grade includes quite a few subcategories, most of which are based on levels of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Lastly, nursing ratings also consider quality-based metrics, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this nursing home performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is typically a reliable indicator that a nursing home has quality controls in place. Many falls can be avoided if a facility provides enough nurses to assist its residents.
