While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. Inspection grades weigh several factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. This facility received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered severe. This means that the government inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to create an immediate threat to patient safety or health. We were a bit worried that this facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to a relatively low 86.91983 percent of its patients. On a more positive note, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Given its score in this area, we were not stunned to learn that this facility is well below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the measures we assessed. Honestly, this was about what we expected to find. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We weighed the skill-level of nurses working for the facility, as well as the quantity of time those nurses spent with patients, in determining our score in this area. Unfortunately, this nursing home also had abysmal scores in some of the quality-based measures to go along with its low nursing hours. We looked at the percentage of residents suffering pressure ulcers and we were quite disappointed. This nursing home was at roughly 150 percent of the national average in this statistic. This is likely a bad sign in light of the fact that so many bed sores are preventable with better nursing care. This statistic helped pull down this nursing home's nursing grade quite a bit.
