Facility Inspections
We also wanted to point out that this nursing home has received near flawless health inspections in recent years. We gave them an A+ in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing these inspection grades. One key factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these are relatively insignificant. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its report, none were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
Adding to its impressive resume, this facility also performed well in our short-term care area. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A in that area. With our short-term care score, we strive to forge a meaningful barometer for rehabilitation. In doing so, we assess a facility's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients who ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 5.6 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home also received a very impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A. Nursing ratings are based in large part on nurse staffing levels. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we analyzed is long-term care, where this nursing home was awarded an A-. This wrapped up an elite report card. Few facilities received an A- or higher in in each area we assessed. Nursing homes that do well in this category typically are well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to residents. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia sadly can be a life or death condition for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a facility doesn't leave this to chance. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
