Registered Staff Hours
In addition to being an elite facility overall, this facility performed well in our inspections category, where it received a grade of A+. Few nursing homes fared this well in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection scores. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these end up being relatively insignificant. Although this place had some deficiencies on its report, none of them were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few minor deficiencies are not something to panic about.
This facility is also strong in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of B+. It outperformed most nursing homes in this category. Nursing scores are largely based on the nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality
In addition, this nursing home also was given favorable short-term care grades in our assessment. In fact, we awarded it one of our stronger scores in that area, with a grade of B+. In the area of short-term care, we endeavor to qualify indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We look at a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final datapoint we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients that were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 4.8 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we looked at is long-term care, in which this facility received a grade of B. Believe it or not, this ended up being this facility's least impressive area. A facility is doing something right when their worst grade still outperforms most nursing homes. Long-term care grades in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. Once we assessed the amount of nursing care, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 99.242424 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia sadly is often a life threatening health condition for nursing home residents so we prefer when a nursing home doesn't take any chances. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
