Facility Inspections
In addition to being a strong nursing home overall, it also earned A+ government inspections in recent years. Its inspections were nearly flawless. Arguably the most critical factor we consider in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Places with higher grades in this area most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This nursing home was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This indicates that the government inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies an imminent risk to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home also received a very impressive nursing grade. In fact, this turned out to be its second best category grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A. Our nursing rating is primarily associated with the facility's level of nurse staffing. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality
This facility also was given a dominant long-term care score. Indeed, this is this facility's third strongest category score. In that category, this facility received a grade of A-. Nursing homes that do well in this category typically are well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to patients. Once we looked at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents out of the hospital. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Short-term Care Quality
The next area we looked at is short-term care, in which this nursing home received a grade of B-. This actually turned out to be this facility's worst area. This is nevertheless not a terrible score. Our short-term care ratings are likely most meaningful for individuals needing rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation generally requires additional highly-skilled nursing. This includes not only nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 3.8 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.
