Facility Inspections
While this nursing home's overall grade was not a highlight, it actually really excelled in the category of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- for that area, which is one of our highest scores. Inspection scores are tied to several pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important thing to look for on these reports. Most importantly, you should avoid nursing homes that have severe deficiencies associated with risks to resident well being. This particular nursing home received 7 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.
Long-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this facility only earned a grade of D for its long-term care score, which turns out to be one of its more respectable category scores. In a long-term care environment, the primary goal is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. One of the statistics we considered on top of nurse's aid hours was vaccinations. Fortunately, this facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this facility was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.

Nurse Quality
We gave this facility a grade of just D for our nursing rating. Nursing ratings are tied to nurse staffing levels. This facility provided a meager 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is an alarmingly low total. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing scores. This nursing home fared well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning to the final area, this facility didn't fare very well here either. Due to a rock bottom grade of F in short-term care, this is just about as terrible as it gets. Our short-term care ratings are thought to be most meaningful for folks requiring rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation usually requires more skilled nursing services. This includes not merely nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other types of therapy. With a grade in this range for this area, we were not stunned to discover this place was well below average in several staffing figures we assess. The facility offered substantially fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most nursing homes. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that just 3.3 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
