Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

While we were fairly low on this nursing home overall, we awarded it an A- for our inspections rating. This score is significantly more impressive than the nursing home's overall grade. Our inspection ratings are tied to pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important item to look for on these inspections. You should especially avoid nursing homes that have severe deficiencies linked to endangerment of patients. This place was assessed 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This indicates that the government inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies to create an imminent risk to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

In addition, we awarded this nursing home a grade of B in our long-term care category. This happens to be one of our more favorable scores. For patients in need of a permanent place to live rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are very important. One of the criteria we considered in addition to nursing hours was vaccinations. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to 90.16393 percent of its patients. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The third area we assessed was short-term care, where this nursing home was given an F. Short-term care scores are important for individuals looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires higher levels of skilled nursing. This means a broad scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. With its grade in this area, we weren't stunned to find that this facility is well below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the data we looked at. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.2 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well off the national average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

The final category we rated is nursing. This facility received a bottom of the barrel grade of F in that area. Our nursing grade is primarily associated with the facility's level of nurse staffing. With a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily, this facility's nurse staffing levels were well below average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing ratings. This facility performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these statistics to be indicators of the quality of nursing care.
