Facility Inspections
In addition to having a decent overall rating, we also would like to point out that this facility received favorable government inspections in recent years. We gave them one of our better grades in that area, with a grade of B+. This is a much better score than the facility's overall grade. Arguably the most significant factor we look at in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Facilities with higher grades in this area most likely dodged the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. Fortunately, although this facility had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G through L. This means that the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple of minor deficiencies shouldn't stop you from considering a nursing home.
Long-term Care Quality
Another one of this facility's higher category grades came in the area of long-term care. In that category, we awarded this nursing home a grade of B. For patients looking for a permanent place to live as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. One of the factors we considered on top of nurse's aid hours is vaccines. This nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccination to 76.88356 percent of its patients. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we had hoped, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to the area of short-term care, this nursing home was given a grade of just D in that area. In our short-term care grade, we strive to forge a meaningful barometer for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we analyze a facility's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This definitely was not a strength for this facility. We found that just 4.5 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, about half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
Nurse Quality
The final category we looked at was nursing, which turned out to be this nursing home's weakest area. Sadly, it received an abysmal F for this category, which is certainly a major concern. The nursing rating is based on a variety of data points. The most important one is the number of hours nurses spent with residents. This nursing home averaged only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This facility also had abysmal scores in some of the quality-based metrics to pair with its low nursing hours. We looked at the percentage of residents suffering pressure ulcers and we were disappointed. This facility was at roughly 150 percent of the national average in this metric.
