Short-term Care Quality
On top of earning a great overall score, this nursing home also received an A+ in short-term care. In the category of short-term care, we attempt to evaluate measures of a facility's rehabilitation. We assess the facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. This facility excelled at the highest level in the two key staffing areas we looked at. It offered about 50% more care from physical therapists and registered nurses than the average nursing home. This is an excellent sign. Finally, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that it outperformed the vast majority of nursing homes in the country in this area with 76.2 percent of its residents returning home. This is a significantly higher rate than most nursing homes.
This facility also earned an A+ inspection grade, making it one of the rare nursing homes to receive multiple A+'s in our category grades. This is based on the place's inspection reports. An A+ in this category is one of the best complements we can pay to a facility. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection scores. One key factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these end up being relatively insignificant. Fortunately, although this facility had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home also performed well in the area of long-term care, where we awarded it a grade of A. Very few nursing homes performed better in this area. In a long-term care setting, the primary objective is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. One of the datapoints we considered on top of nurse's aid hours is vaccines. It doesn't look like this nursing home provided data regarding vaccinations. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
In the final category, this nursing home also was given a first-rate nursing score, with a grade of A. This topped off a first-rate profile. Our nursing grade consists of many subcategories, but the most important consideration is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This place provides an incredible 6.5 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. Out of this total, many of the hours were provided by registered nurses, which is one of the more highly trained levels of nurses. On top of offering high levels of care, this nursing home also excelled in the quality measures we looked at. By way of illustration, it performed as well as any nursing home in the country in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We view these metrics as good indicators of the quality of nursing care offered.
