In addition to being a respectable facility overall, this place really excelled in the area of inspections, where it earned an A. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Arguably the most significant factor we consider in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Facilities with higher scores in this area most likely dodged the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. It doesn't look like we were able to find deficiency counts for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Additionally, we also wanted to point out that this nursing home received impressive long-term care marks this year. We gave them one of our better grades in this area, with a B+. This turned out to be the facility's second strongest score. After considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 99.534164 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients out of the hospital. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

This facilities third best category was short-term care. We awarded it a grade of B- in this area. This is basically a slightly below average grade in this area. Short-term care scores are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a wide spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.1 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.

To pair with its low totals in the area of nursing hours per resident, this place also didn't perform as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in determining our nursing scores. We looked at the percentage of patients sustaining pressure ulcers and major falls. This facility had more pressure ulcers and falls than the average nursing home.
