Facility Inspections

Grade: A

This nursing home received a strong overall grade as described above, but we especially want to emphasize its excellent inspections in recent years. We gave them an impressive grade of A in this category. Inspection ratings are based on several datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that excel in this area typically have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Fortunately, although this nursing home had a few minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G through L. This means CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in this industry.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This facility performed well in the category of short-term care. Indeed, we gave it a score of A- for that category, which turns out to be one of our better grades. With our short-term care assessment, we endeavor to create a sound measure for rehabilitation services. In this process, we assess a nursing home's scope of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 6.3 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

Adding to its profile, this facility also earned a grade of B+ for its nursing rating. This is a well above average score in this category. Nursing grades are tied to nurse staffing levels. This facility provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the country in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by having a protocol of moving residents even once per day.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next area we looked at is long-term care. In that category, we gave this nursing home an acceptable grade of B-. This actually is this facility's least impressive category. If you are seeking anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care grades. On top of considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 97.19626 percent of its residents, which is higher than the majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
