Nurse Quality

Grade: A

In addition to performing well in its overall score, this nursing home earned even higher grades in the area of nursing. We gave it one of our highest scores in this category with an A. Nursing ratings are primarily associated with a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Among the reasons we rated this nursing home so favorably is that it was awarded a dominant short-term care grade. In fact, short-term care is its second most favorable category grade. In that area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A-. With our short-term care category, we endeavor to create a meaningful gauge for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we analyze a facility's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last metric we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

We also found that this nursing home has earned favorable inspections in recent years. In fact, we awarded it a B- in this category. This is better than many nursing homes in this category. We would argue that one of the most critical factors in evaluating an inspection report is deficiencies. We especially look at the severity of those deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

Our final area is long-term care, where we gave this nursing home a C in this area. Our long-term care scores are based in part on the facility's quantity of nursing services. This means a broad scope of personal care services, ranging from help with activities of daily living to routine medical services. After we finished looking at the volume of nursing care, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 91.333336 percent of its patients for pneumonia. On a more positive note, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
