Facility Inspections
While this nursing home's overall score was not a highlight, it actually received a slightly more favorable grade in the area of inspections. We awarded it a B- for this category, which is a decent score. We would argue that one of the most critical factors in evaluating an inspection report is deficiencies. We especially look at the severity of those deficiencies. This facility received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This means that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
Nurse Quality
We also ended up giving this facility a fairly respectable grade in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of B-. Our nursing grade is primarily tied to a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This place provides only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a somewhat uninspiring figure which is well below the national average. Lastly, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this facility performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is typically a reliable indicator that a facility has quality controls in place.

Short-term Care Quality
The next area we analyzed is short-term care. In that area, we gave this facility a decent grade of B-. Short-term care grades are typically used to score a nursing home's rehabilitation services To have quality rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to offer better levels of skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. Unfortunately, we found that this facility provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The tricky part is determining what bearing this had on the quality of care. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 4.9 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we rated is long-term care. For that category, we gave this nursing home a B-. In the area of long-term care, we look at the amount of services offered by a facility, as opposed to more medically-intensive services. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 99.46809 percent of its patients, which is better than the vast majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
