Short-term Care Quality
We also want to emphasize that this nursing home earned an impressive grade of A in our short-term care category. Our short-term care grades are based in part on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a wide range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, not to mention other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the number of patients who eventually returned home from this facility. We found that 6.2 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
To complement its strong performance in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for our inspections rating. Our nursing rating is based on the facility's level of nurse staffing. We weigh both the levels of training of the nurses and the number of hours spent with residents. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home Arkansas in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as by employing a system of moving a patient at least once a day.

Racking up yet another strong category grade, this facility also excelled in inspections, where it received an impressive grade of A-. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining these inspection ratings. One key factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some can be quite minor. While this place had a few deficiencies on its report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. A few minor deficiencies aren't something to panic about.
Long-term Care Quality
Turning to the final area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of D in our long-term care category. This was the facility's weakest category grade. However, you should not focus exclusively a single poor grade. If you are looking for anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care grades. One of the criteria we considered in addition to nursing hours was vaccinations. Fortunately, this nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccination to 93.97591 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this place was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Sadly, some of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
