Facility Inspections
Although we did not rate this facility favorably overall, we want to draw your attention to its excellent health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an A- in this category. These inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This place was hit with 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This tells you that the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies to be an imminent threat to resident health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this nursing home an C. Our nursing score includes several factors, many of which are based on quantities of nurse staffing. This place provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is a much lower figure than we were hoping for. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility surprisingly excelled in some of the quality measures we assessed. In fact, it scored well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these areas to be indicators of the quality of nursing care. In many cases, the quality of nursing care is every bit as important as the quantity of hours of care provided.

Long-term Care Quality
The third area we analyzed was long-term care. This facility's was given a bottom of the barrel long-term care score where it was given a lowly F. Facilities that receive this type of score in this category likely don't provide the type of consistent around the clock care that some other facilities provide. After we finished assessing the amount of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination records. Frankly, we were a bit worried that this facility vaccinated just 65.76087 percent of its patients against pneumonia. To our surprise, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This is its best feature in this category.
Short-term Care Quality
The last area we scored was short-term care. It received an abysmal F for this category, which is an abysmal score. Our short-term care ratings are based in part on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a wide spectrum of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. As you might expect, we found that this place provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than a typical facility. The last statistic we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 4.6 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these poor metrics was damning for this nursing home's short-term care grade.
