Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

While this facility's overall grade was as bad as it gets, it actually really excelled in the area of inspections. In fact, we gave it a grade of A- for that category, which is one of our highest scores. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining these inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some end up being relatively insignificant. Fortunately, although this nursing home had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G through L. This means that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Turning to the area of nursing care, this facility received a grade of just D in this category. Unfortunately, this ended up being one of its better grades. Our nursing grade is largely based on the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This place offered a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is not a very impressive figure. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. This nursing home fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

In our next category, we gave this nursing home an F in the area of short-term care. In computing our short-term care scores, we quantify the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The purpose is to create a scale for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that just 4.6 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Moving on to our fourth category, this nursing home did not fare very well here either. With a poor grade of F in long-term care, this is just about as as uninspiring as it gets. Facilities that do not fare well in this category typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in some of the areas of routine personal care we looked at. After we finished assessing the volume of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination record. Candidly, we were a bit worried that this facility vaccinated a relatively low 79.74683 percent of its patients against pneumonia. To our surprise, this place was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This was its best score in this category.
